An Evening with Andrew Miller introducing his new book

The acclaimed Costa winning novelist Andrew Miller is talking about his most recent novel, The Crossing, which tells the story of Maud, who undertakes a challenging physical and emotional journey from village life in modern Britain across the seas to the southern hemisphere.

The novel, written in Miller’s characteristically spare, visceral prose, is both serious and very funny. It raises uncomfortable questions about modern love and motherhood, the lure of the unknown and the ultimate unknowability of others. The Crossing confirms Andrew Miller’s position as one of the finest writers of his generation.

‘With every turn of the page, the reader becomes more and more intrigued…’ The Independent ‘An extremely convincing portrait of … harassing loneliness.’ The Guardian
