an evening with Deirdre Clancy

Olivier and BAFTA award-winning costume designer Deirdre Clancy explores the long theatrical tradition of transvestism. in the west it stretches from the ancient greeks via Shakespeare’s boy women to pantomime dames and in the east, from thedan of China to theoyama of Japan for stage and screen.

Clancy has designed costumes for performances across the world, including the Moscow ballet, opera at the new York Met, as well as london’s national Theatre and the royal Shakespeare Company. Her acclaimed designs include many examples of men dressed as women, and women dressed as men. if you like Bruton’s annual drag race, you will love Deirdre Clancy.
